Description
Amorpha fruticosa (scientific name: Amorpha fruticosa Linn.) is a leguminous deciduous shrub with a height of 1-4 meters. Branches are brown, pilose, later becoming glabrous, leaves alternate, linear stipules at the base, spikes densely pubescent, flowers with short stalks; calyxes are sparsely hairy or almost glabrous; flag petals are heart-shaped, purple . The pods are drooping, slightly curved, with small pointed tips, brown, and convex verrucous glands on the surface. Flower and fruit period from May to October.
Amorpha is native to the northeastern and southeastern parts of the United States, and is cultivated in northeast, north, northwest, and Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu, Henan, Hubei, Guangxi, Sichuan and other provinces.
Amorpha is a perennial excellent green manure, a nectar plant, tolerant to barrenness, water and humidity and mild saline-alkali soil, and can fix nitrogen. With large leaves and rich nutrition, it contains a lot of crude protein and vitamins. It is a nutrient-rich feed plant.
