Description
Cynodon dactylon (Scientific name: Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.) is a low herbaceous plant belonging to the family Gramineae and bermudagrass. The stalk is thin and tough. The wall is thick, smooth and hairless, sometimes slightly flattened on both sides. The leaf sheath is slightly ridged, and the tongue is only one round of cilia; the leaf blade is linear, usually glabrous on both sides. Spikes, spikelets gray-green or purple, small flowers; anthers lavender; stigmas purplish red. Caryopsis are long and cylindrical. Flowering and fruiting from May to October.
It is widely distributed in various provinces south of the Yellow River in China, distributed in warm regions around the world, and has been cultivated near Beijing. It mostly grows near villages, riverbanks beside roads, and hillsides of wasteland.
The rhizome of bermudagrass has a strong spreading force and spreads widely on the ground. It is a good soil-retaining plant of bermudagrass. It is often used for paving bermudagrass lawns or courts. When it grows in orchards or cultivated land, it is a harmful weed that is difficult to eradicate. It is found in warm regions all over the world. The rhizome can be fed to pigs, cows, horses, rabbits, chickens, etc. like to eat its leaves; the whole plant can be used as medicine, which has the effects of clearing blood, antipyretic, and promoting muscle.
