Description
Parlex tree (Latin scientific name: Bretschneidera sinensis Hemsl.) is a deciduous tree of the genus Bole tree, also known as the bell calyx or mountain peach blossom. Bole tree is transliterated from Bretschneidera.
Parlex tree can reach up to 20 meters in height, with a tower-shaped crown, brown, smooth bark, and massive gray-white spots. The leaves are odd-pinnate compound leaves, elliptical or obovate, and the back of the leaves is pink and white, densely covered with brown pubescent. The buds are broadly ovoid, larger, and the bud scales are reddish brown. The flowers are large racemes, terminal and pink. The capsule is reddish-brown, woody, hairy, subglobose, trigonous, with 1-6 seeds inside. Flowering from April to May, fruit ripening from September to October.
Bole trees often grow under broad-leaved forests, with slow growth and a very peculiar characteristic. The seeds need to be covered in the leaves of the forest for a year before they can germinate, and the seedling stage cannot grow up to the root system.
