Description

Eremochloa ophiuroides (Munro) Hack. is a perennial herb belonging to the family Gramineae and Centipede, with strong stolons. The stalk rises obliquely and can reach a height of 20 cm. The leaf blades are strip-shaped, blunt at the top, glabrous, and the terminal leaf blades are degenerate. The raceme is terminal, slightly arched, compressed, the second floret is bisexual, and the top of the lemma is blunt; the anther stigma is reddish brown. The stalked spikelet degenerates or only has the spikelet stalk, lanceolate and adnate to raceme rachis. Flower and fruit period in summer and autumn.

Distributed in China's Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and other provinces; born in wet grassland, river banks, and roadsides. The Indochina Peninsula is also distributed. Type specimens were collected from Huangpu, Guangdong. This kind of stolon is strong, and it has a strong and rapid spreading force, and it can be used as fodder or for laying turf and protecting soil and embankment.
