Description
Lime (scientific name: Citrus aurantium L.) is a small tree of the citrus genus of the Rutaceae family, with dense foliage and many thorns. The leaves are dark green in color, thick in quality, wing leaves are obovate, and the base is narrow and pointed. The raceme has a few flowers, and the flower buds are oval or nearly spherical. The fruit is round or oblate, the skin is slightly thick to very thick, difficult to peel, orange-yellow to vermillion, the fruit core is solid or semi-full, the flesh is sour, sometimes bitter or has a peculiar smell, and the seeds are many and large.
Limes are native to various places south of the southern slope of the Qinling Mountains in China.
This species is widely used as a rootstock for grafting sweet oranges and broad-skin oranges. It is a stomachic, tonic, wind-repellent and flavoring agent to treat colds, indigestion, coughing and phlegm, uterine prolapse, anal prolapse and other diseases.
