Description

Full and plump gynostemma seeds maintain stable germination vitality. Gynostemma pentaphyllum, commonly named Jiaogulan or Southern Ginseng, is a traditional perennial medicinal climbing herb native to China. It has palmate compound leaves, slender winding vines and tiny yellow-green flowers in summer. Its fresh tender stems and leaves can be dried and brewed into healthy herbal tea with high practical value.

This herb prefers warm, humid and scattered light environment, extremely afraid of blazing direct sunlight, and has poor drought resistance which requires stable soil moisture all the time. It is frost-sensitive and will suffer fatal damage when temperature drops below 0℃, unable to overwinter outdoors in cold northern areas. The creeping root system can cover ground densely to fix loose mountain soil and prevent rainwater erosion and soil loss. Seed-grown seedlings can be picked for tea use in the second growing year.
