Idesia polycarpa Maxim. (scientific name: Idesia polycarpa Maxim.) is a deciduous tree of the genus Idesia polycarpa Maxim. It is a deciduous tree with a height of 8-21 meters. Lenticular, the side branches are longer than the top branches in winter. The leaves are thin leathery or thick paper, ovate or heart-shaped, or broad heart-shaped. The flowers are unisexual, dioecious or polygamous, yellow-green, fragrant, lack of petals, arranged in terminal drooping panicles, peduncle with sparse pilose. The berries are purple-red at maturity, flat round, with small stalks, 0.6-2 cm long; seeds are reddish brown and round. It is distributed in North Korea, southern Japan and China; in China, it is distributed in 17 provinces including southern Gansu, southern Shaanxi, southern Shanxi, southern Henan, northern Taiwan and three provinces in southwestern China, two central and southern provinces, five eastern China, and two southern China.
