Seed Treatment:
Improved variety is the internal factor to capture the high yield of licorice. In our county, Ural licorice and licorice root are generally used as the leading varieties. For those who use seeds as sowing materials, the seeds should be milled with an electric rice mill before sowing, or the seeds should be weighed and placed in a ceramic pot, and the seeds should be dressed by adding 1 kg of seeds and 30 ml of 80% concentrated sulfuric acid, and using a smooth wooden stick Repeated stirring, after 7 hours of stuffy seeding at 20 ℃, and then rinsed with water for many times and dried for use, the germination rate can reach more than 90%.

Licorice can be sown in three seasons: spring, summer and autumn. The best time to sow in summer is in May, when the temperature is higher, the seedlings emerge quickly, and there is a longer growth period before winter. Before sowing, apply 4000 kg of high-quality farmyard manure per mu, and 35 kg of diammonium phosphate per mu as base fertilizer. If seed is used for sowing, the sowing method can be better by drilling or hole sowing. The seeding rate is 2-2.50 kg per mu, and the row spacing is 30-40 cm. , The plant spacing is 15 cm, the sowing depth is 2.50-3 cm, and each hole is 3-5 grains. After sowing, the soil is covered and raked to protect the moisture.

Fertilization: In the second and third years, 25 kg of diammonium phosphorus per mu should be topdressed every spring before the seedlings germinate. And the ditch is applied at a depth of 10 cm on the side of the row, the depth of the ditch is 15 cm, and the soil is covered after fertilization.

Irrigation: Irrigation 3-4 times in the year of sowing. The amount of irrigation is generally 85 cubic meters per mu. Thinning: When the licorice seedlings grow to 15 cm high, thinning can be carried out, the plant spacing is 15 cm, and about 20,000 seedlings are maintained per mu.

Intertillage and weeding: 3-4 times of intertillage in the year of sowing, and the number of intertillage can be appropriately reduced in the future. Combined with intertillage, the field weeds such as dodder are mainly eliminated.

Seed collection: If artificial planting is used, seeds must be collected every year. During the flowering and podding stage, the flowers and fruits near the branch tips can be removed to obtain large and plump seeds. Seed collection should be done when the seeds in the pod turn from green to brown, that is, the middle stage of pulping is best. At this time, the seed hard rate is low, the treatment is simple, and the emergence rate is high. Seed collection time should not be too early, otherwise the germination rate of seeds will be affected after sowing, resulting in lack of seedlings and ridge breakage.
