Description
Parmandii pine (scientific name: Pinus armandii Franch.) is one of the famous evergreen tree species in the Pinus genus. It is originally produced in China and named after Huashan, which is concentrated in Shaanxi. Pinus armandii is a large tree with sapling bark gray-green or light gray, smooth, and cracked into square or rectangular thick pieces when old. The cones are green when they are young and are yellowish-brown when they are mature; the apex of the seed scales is not recurved or slightly recurved; the scale umbilicus is not obvious. The seeds are wingless, with ridges on both sides and top. It mainly produces high mountains in central to southwestern China. Like warm and humid climate, not tolerant to cold and damp heat, slightly tolerant to dryness and barrenness. It can be used as materials for construction, furniture and wood fiber industry. Resin can be harvested from the trunk; tannin extract can be extracted from the bark; aromatic oil can be extracted from the needles; the seeds can be edible or squeezed.
