Description

Pistacia chinensis Bunge (scientific name: Pistacia chinensis Bunge) is a plant of the genus Pistacia and the genus Pistacia. Deciduous tree, more than 20 meters high; twisted trunk, dark brown bark, scaly peeling, young branches gray-brown, with small lenticels, sparsely puberulent or nearly glabrous. Even-numbered pinnate compound leaves alternate, with 5-6 pairs of leaflets, leaf shafts are striated, puberulent, and petioles are flat and puberulent. The flowers are unisexual, first flowers and then leaves, panicles axillary, male inflorescences are closely arranged, 6-7 cm long, and female inflorescences are loosely arranged; the flowers are small, and the peduncle is about 1 mm long. The drupe is obovate-globose, slightly flattened, about 5 mm in diameter, purplish red when mature, with longitudinal thin stripes when dried, with a narrow tip.
It is distributed in the Philippines and China; in China, it is distributed in provinces and regions south of the Yangtze River and in North and Northwest China. Born in a rocky mountain forest at an altitude of 140-3550 meters.
The wood is bright yellow, and yellow dye can be added. The material is hard and dense, and can be used for furniture and fine work. The seed oil can be used as lubricating oil or soap making. Young leaves can be used as vegetables and can replace tea. It also has ornamental value.
