Description
Plantago depressa (scientific name: Plantago depressa Willd.) is a plant of the Plantago family and the genus Plantago. Annual or biennial herb. Taproot is long, with many lateral roots, and somewhat fleshy. The rhizome is short. The basal leaves are in the shape of a rosette, lying prone, obliquely spread or erect; the leaves are papery, elliptical, elliptical-lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, and the base of the petiole expands into a sheath. The peduncle has longitudinal stripes and is sparsely white pubescent; the spikes are thinly terete. Calyx glabrous, corolla white, glabrous. The stamens are inserted on the inner surface of the crown tube near the top, the same style is obviously extended, the anthers are oval or broadly elliptic, white or greenish white when fresh, and turn light brown when dried. Ovule 5. The capsule is ovate-elliptic to conical-ovate. Seeds 4-5, oval, flat ventral surface, yellow-brown to black; cotyledons arranged dorsally and ventrally. Distributed in China, North Korea, Russia (Siberia to the Far East), Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Kashmir, India. Born in grasslands, river beaches, ditch sides, meadows, fields and roadsides at an altitude of 5-4500 meters. [1]
