Description

Temperature management: Since it is native to the tropics, it likes a high temperature environment and has strict requirements on the temperature in winter. When it is lower than 10 °C, it grows slowly and begins to enter a semi-dormant or dormant state; when it is lower than 5 °C, it is not safe Overwinter; in summer, it can tolerate temperatures as high as 35°C or more, but growth will be temporarily hampered. The most suitable growth temperature is 18~30℃.

Light management: It is not strict with light requirements, prefers full sun and tolerates partial shade, but grows better in full light.

Fertilizer and water management: For potted plants, in addition to adding organic fertilizers when potting, proper fertilizer and water management should also be carried out in the usual maintenance process.

Dry scorch occurs on the leaf tips and leaf margins of Dragonscale Palm during the growth period. The main reasons are:

①The air is too dry. Dragon scale palm likes high air humidity, and when the air is too dry, it will cause the scorch tip and scorch edge of the leaves. Water should be sprayed on the leaves and the surrounding environment 3 to 4 times a day during the entire growth period to increase the air humidity. But stop watering after dormancy.

②The sunshine is too strong. The dragon scale palm prefers a semi-shady environment from May to September. When the sun is directly exposed to the sun, the leaves will turn yellow, and the phenomenon of scorch tip and scorch edge will occur. During this period, it should be placed under a awning or under a big tree to avoid direct sunlight.

③ The basin soil is too dry. During the growth period of dragon scale palm, it needs to supply sufficient water. When the potting soil is dry for a long time, the leaf tips and leaf margins will be dry and charred because the growth of the plants cannot get enough water.

④ The basin soil is too wet. It is not that as long as there is water in the potting soil, plants can absorb and utilize it. When the potting soil is too wet, the respiration of the plant roots is affected, which affects the absorption of water by the roots, and leads to the lack of water in the plant, resulting in the appearance of scorched tips and scorched edges of the leaves.

⑤ Fertilization is too strong. Excessive fertilization will cause the reverse osmosis of the root cells of the plant and cause the plant to lose water. In mild cases, it will lead to the scorched tip and edge of the leaves, and in severe cases, it will cause the death of rotten roots.
