Purple Garden Balsam (
Impatiens balsamina), also named touch-me-not, is a popular annual ornamental flower with high germination rate and good heat resistance. It grows well in full sun or partial shade, requiring loose, fertile and well-drained loam soil.
It features gorgeous layered double purple flowers that look similar to camellias, upright compact plant shape and long blooming period in summer. Its mature seed pods will burst open when touched, which is interesting for viewing.
