Sanvitalia procumbens, commonly called Creeping Zinnia, is a compact trailing annual flower with reliable germination rate and excellent heat and drought tolerance. It grows vigorously under full sunlight in loose, well-drained fertile soil and performs brilliantly in hot summer weather.
The plant features spreading creeping stems and countless tiny golden-yellow daisy-shaped flowers with dark centers, blooming nonstop throughout the warm season. Its mat-forming growth habit makes it perfect for covering bare ground to suppress weeds.
Sanvitalia has strong disease resistance and very low upkeep needs. Deadheading spent blooms can extend the flowering period significantly. It is widely used as garden ground cover, border edging, cascading hanging baskets, flower box decoration and balcony potted trailing ornamental planting.
