Alpine Aster (
Aster alpinus) is a compact hardy perennial alpine flower with stable germination rate and exceptional cold resistance. It thrives in full sunlight and well-drained, slightly gritty loamy soil, adapting extremely well to rocky, barren mountainous growing conditions.
The plant keeps a short dwarf clumping habit, producing plenty of large daisy-like single flowers in purple, blue, pink and white shades with bright yellow centers from late spring to early summer. The neat bushy shape delivers excellent landscape effect.
Alpine Aster features great drought tolerance after establishment, rarely troubled by pests and fungal diseases. Overwatering and poor drainage should be avoided to prevent root rot.
