China waxgourd, also known as winter melon, is a vigorous warm-season climbing vegetable with reliable germination rate and strong heat resistance. It requires full sunlight, deep fertile loose well-drained soil and warm climate for healthy vine growth. The sprawling vines need trellises, stakes or fences to climb upwards, which improves air circulation and prevents fruits from rotting on the damp ground. Mature waxgourd has a thick white waxy layer on the peel, enabling super long-term storage. The thick flesh is light and refreshing, widely used for stews, soups, candied preserves and daily home cooking. Proper fruit thinning during growth helps produce bigger, higher-quality waxgourds. This variety has good disease resistance and simple daily care, only regular watering and occasional fertilization required. It is perfect for backyard trellis cultivation, home vegetable plots and extra-large deep pots on balconies.
