Bitter gourd, also called bitter melon, is a heat-loving annual climbing vegetable with stable germination rate and vigorous vine growth. It needs full sunlight, deep fertile loose well-drained soil and warm climate to grow well. The creeping vines must be guided onto trellises, fences or supports for upward climbing, which improves ventilation and reduces fruit diseases. Young tender fruits have a characteristic bitter taste and high nutritional value, commonly stir-fried, blanched or made into soups for daily healthy meals. Timely harvesting of tender gourds promotes continuous flowering and fruiting. This variety boasts strong high-temperature resistance, relatively few pest problems and easy daily management. It is ideal for backyard frame planting, vegetable garden beds and deep large pots on balconies.
