Description
Tall fescue (scientific name: Festuca elata Keng ex E. Alexeev) is a perennial herbaceous plant of the family Gramineae, a subgenus of fescue. The tongue is membranous, truncated, and the leaf blades are linear-lanceolate, usually flat, smooth and hairless on the bottom, rough on the top and edges, and loosely developed panicles with flowers; glumes are smooth and hairless on the back, acuminate at the top, and membranous at the edge. The outer scale is oval-lanceolate, smooth, and the lemma and lemma are nearly the same length, and the two ridges are almost smooth; the top of the caryopsis has hairy. Flowers and fruits from April to August.
Distributed in Guangxi, Sichuan and Guizhou, China. It grows on roadsides, hillsides and under forests.
Tall fescue can be used for sports lawns such as home gardens, public green spaces, parks, football fields, etc.
