Description
White birch (scientific name: Betula platyphylla Suk.): Deciduous tree with trunk up to 25 meters high and 50 cm thick. There are white smooth paper-like bark that can be peeled off in layers, and you can write on the thin bark with a pencil. The leaves of the birch are single leaves alternate, with serrations on the edge of the leaves, and the flowers are unisexual, monoecious, and the male inflorescence is soft and drooping. In spring, the leaves on the tree bloom before the leaves grow. The fruits of birch trees are flat and small, called samaras, which are easily blown by the wind and spread far away.
White birch likes sunlight and has strong vitality. After the forest destroyed by fire, white birch often grows first, often forming large tracts of white birch forest, which is one of the main tree species that form natural forest. The wood can be used for general construction and crafting tools and utensils. The bark can be used for birch oil. The birch trees can be planted alone, clumped in gardens, lawns in parks, poolsides, lakesides, or lined up by roads. It is quite beautiful. In the north of China, on the grasslands, in the forests, and beside the mountain roads, it is easy to find patches of dense birch forests. The white birch tree is the national tree of Russia and a symbol of the national spirit of this country.
