Description

Wisteria (scientific name: Wisteria sinensis (Sims) Sweet) is a plant of the genus Leguminous and Wisteria. Deciduous vines. The stem is left-handed, [9] The branches are sturdy, the tender branches are white pilose, and the back is bald; the winter buds are ovoid. The odd-pinnate compound leaves are 15-25 cm long; the stipules are linear and fall early; the leaflets are 3-6 pairs, papery, ovate-elliptic to ovate-lanceolate. Racemes originate from axillary buds or terminal buds planted on one-year stubs, 15-30 cm long, 8-10 cm in diameter, inflorescence rachis covered with white pilose; bracts lanceolate, early fall; flower length 2-2.5 cm . The pod is oblanceolate, 10-15 cm long, 1.5-2 cm wide, densely tomented, and does not fall off the hanging branches, with 1-3 seeds; the seeds are brown, shiny, round, 1.5 cm wide, flat. Flowering period is from mid-April to early May, fruit period is from May to August.
Distributed in the Yellow River and Yangtze River basins south of Hebei, China, and Shaanxi, Henan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, and Beijing. Born in valleys, ditch slopes and hillside shrubs between 500-1000 meters above sea level.
